Candy Review: Graffiti Zoo Margarita Manatee Chocolate

I bought this Margarita Manatee chocolate for all the wrong reasons: because I like manatees, and I like margaritas, and I like good white chocolate.
The manatees are irrelevant, because of course, this product is not manatee flavored. Setting aside the question of whether this would be a tasty idea (NO), manatees, being endangered, and adorable, should never be used to make candy.
The margarita, on the other hand, is extremely relevant, but possibly a reason to NOT buy this. See, what I did not stop to ask myself was the obvious: is it actually a good idea to combine that flavor with chocolate?
Candy Review: Davenportâs Tasty Sensations Chocolate Covered Caramel Corn

The best part of the weeks leading up to Christmas? Holiday craft sales. From tiny indy affairs hosting young artists with edgy, Etsy-style offerings, to old-lady church basement sales chockablock with crocheted sweaters, knitted scarves and hand-painted ornaments, I love âem all. Edmontonâs biggest holiday craft sale, which takes place at the Butterdome, the University of Albertaâs ridiculously yellow, butter-pat-shaped athletics building, combines the best of both worlds.
As much as I love looking at arts and crafts, my favorite corner of the Butterdome craft sale is the one where the food vendors are â or, as I like to call it, âsample city.â After mooching more than my fair share of ciders, hot chocolates, baked goodies and more different kinds of dips, spreads and tapenades than I can count on both hands, I went looking for candy items to review â no easy task. From several kinds of home-made toffees to chocolate-covered fruits to the folks from Calgary with 50 kinds of fudge, the candy options were as numerous as they were delicious.
Finally, I settled upon an offering from Davenportâs Tasty Sensations, who make a very fine caramel toffee popcorn, as well as âCowboy Crunch,â which you can think of as a more upscale version of Clodhoppers. I selected a bag of Davenportâs Chocolate Covered Caramel Corn. (Though caramel corn straddles the line between âcandyâ and âsnack,â in my opinion, anything coated in this much chocolate and caramel has left snack territory and wandered firmly into candy country.)
Candy Review: Texas Chocolate Lady

As I have mentioned before, I frequently make deliveries to various businesses in downtown Austin for work. One of the interesting things about it this time of year is that the lobbies of these hotels, offices, and skyscrapers are littered with merchants. Itâs like a mini-bazaar of people selling jewelry, candles, and clothing as convenient holiday gifts.
None of these things really pique my interest, and I normally just brush right past them. However, on a recent trip to the twenty-second floor of 301 Congress, one little table caught my eye. It was a display of artisan chocolates. I hurried to the elevator to make my delivery so that I could quickly come back down and review the products for sale.
Upon my return, I noticed a stunning collection. There were molded chocolates designed for Christmas and wine bottles matched with wine glasses that were both decorated in a chocolate coating so that you could enjoy a drink and nibble on some Belgian chocolate concurrently. But the highlight of the table by far proved to be a series of molded chocolates that were depictions of paintings.
Thank you for visiting www.ChocolateGiftGuru.com. You can find great ideas for gifts for chocolate lovers. And lots of chocolate gift baskets too.
